Fine-Art Portrait Sessions Marking Moments that Matter
Meet me in Paris, Milan, London, Los Angeles, or Vancouver BC in 2026
No performance. No posing. No persona.
Capturing Breath on Film Sessions create a space for you to come home to yourself.
“Catherine sees me. Some of my most transcendent moments have been in front of her camera.”
- Danielle LaPorte
These sessions have two integral parts for deep soul medicine:
We start with my signature “Capturing Breath on Film” photo session -
This is a slow, intention setting, sacred process that brings you to a
grounded, present, aligned, embodied place.
We then move into your portrait session.
You can choose between Branding Photos, Sexy/Sensual Photos, or a combination of the two.

How it Works:
Part 1.
1. Intention Setting
Write out what you're ready to release, what you’re stepping into and gratitude for who you already are.
—
2. Dropping into Presence
I intuitively guide what’s next. Breathwork to ground, future-writing to step into your next chapter, NLP, Toltec intuitive guidance. This is unique to each person and what feels good and right.
—
3. Capturing Breath on Film
With my large-format camera, and an invitation to close your eyes and be with your intentions, we anchor you into what’s real.
This is slow, intentional, meditative. I create images that capture more than a 60th of a second which is the usual for photography. This is a longer exposure, capturing your own individual hum. Your breath, heartbeat, dreams, wishes, desires, intentions, recorded on film. the images show your natural movement created by being alive, your heartbeat and your rhythm of your breath. Making your unseen life force energy not only seen, but made into a sacred photograph that reminds you of your intentions, dreams, and your connection to all things. The pulse of the planet.
—
4. Ritual of Release
You keep, burn, or rip the intention note.
Either way, the old unravels.
—
Part 2.
5. The Deepening
We create portraits that honor truth:
• embodied, sensual fine-art imagery
• quiet, powerful portraits
• branding photographs that feel aligned
Or a combination.
We design this based on what’s right for you.
I use Polaroid, Film Cameras and Digital.

“Since I was aware I had a body I have hated and hidden my body. I’ve been on a journey to reclaim it. This was about the right to exist and be seen. This isn’t just about beautiful photos, though it is: it’s about seeing your own power and being in your body and claiming your space in this world. It’s worth every penny and more.”

“To be frank? There are no words that truly do the magic of Catherine’s work justice. To say she sees people in all their beauty is like saying the moon moves the sea. Catherine’s work is transcendent. She’s an artist. Not a portrait photographer. Her mission is to see your essence, and to capture it in all of it’s beauty. For two years I’ve trusted her with my voice and my soul in her lens, and those two years have turned my business into the one I see today. She sees me, and in seeing me, I see myself. All of me. All of the potential, the joy, the movement, the raw energy. She’s a soul alchemist. Her medium is photography. Hire her. You will not be disappointed. - M.”
“So here is a wee secret.
I loathe getting my picture taken. I also have to put myself “out there” a LOT in my businesses. Pretty much more with every passing month. So a lot of the time this has meant taking iPhone photos in my house, taking 100 and selecting 2, editing the living hell out of them and calling them my professional photos.
I am crazy uncomfortable in front of cameras, or...I was. This week Catherine Just and I were both in Cabo at the same time. Catherine is far beyond talented. So I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, weird phobia or no. But her special sauce goes beyond the lens. She has a unique ability to make her subjects feel seen, and loved. Safe.
I gave Catherine just over 30 minutes and she gave me magic.
Thank you Catherine, you are SO.INCREDIBLE.
I mean, have you met you? ”
Kim Sevy : Bowery Hotel : NYC
“You have a magic that makes the images so beautiful. You really do have a gift and it makes people so open, so true, so themselves. It’s a spiritual experience. It’s a sacred ritual. I’m honored to have had this photo session with you. ”
“Catherine is a master. We met yesterday for one of her luxe photo sessions and it was a day of laughter, friendship, kindness and photography. We have known each other for close to 13 years. I’ve taken photography courses with her, been on photography retreats with her, hired her to take photos of me at various stages in my life as an artist, creative and human. Yesterday was one of those really special experiences that comes from deep respect and friendship. Thank you Catherine for capturing this moment and being my friend throughout this journey! Love you, appreciate you and will cherish our time together always!!” — Sarah S.
“It was such a pleasure to hang out and be in Catherine's creative energy. Catherine does the photography for a lot of my clients, we've been accidental collaborators for about two years now and it was such a pleasure to meet her in person. Catherine's vision and how she moves through the world, leaves a trail of light in her path.” —Alyssa B.
“This was so different from anything I’ve ever done before. I don’t like having my picture taken and that’s not what this is about. It was about capturing a moment, an intention, a transition, a letting go, a breath. Catherine is a bit of a magician. ”
“Working with Catherine changed my life. You won’t regret it. I’ve never felt so safe and supported. Catherine helped me find my voice and know that I’m worthy of taking up space. ”
“[Our Session] felt like a Spiritual Experience. It felt like a landing inside myself that I’ve never felt before. It was an infusion of self and the intention put into that moment was huge. I have shivers. This experiene forever changed me.” — P.J. D.
Catherine Just is a visual artist and photographer living in Los Angeles. Her fine art explores the unseen and unsaid emotional & psychological terrains of love, loss, and what lives in-between them. Her “Capturing Breath on Film” photography sessions are opportunities to slow down and experience deeper belonging to yourself.
With 38 years of sobriety from a meth addiction, her creative path is a parallel journey of healing, shaped by her personal apprenticeship with Miguel Ruiz (Author of the Four Agreements) and a devotion to image-making as transformation. She’s certified in subconcious reprogramming techniques and weaves them into her offerings. She works mainly with Large Format Film Photography, Polaroid and Alternative Photo Processes.

Artist’s Statement:
At the root of who we are, before identity and story, there is breath and pulse…the hum of existence itself. Some call it soul, some call it God, some call it consciousness. It’s larger than language and older than story.
This is what I am making visible. The camera becomes a vessel, a witness, a measuring instrument of being. Each long exposure gathers breath, heartbeat, stillness, and micro-movement, recording your invisible life-force.
This is the pulse of the planet, a shared current that runs through every human being, the hum of humanity, the universal thread that binds us across our experiences of separation.
No matter the details of our lives, where we come from, who we love, what we believe, how we identify, the rhythm of breath and pulse is our common ground. It is the primal truth beneath all difference, the shared architecture of being human.
These portraits are not simply likenesses. They are artifacts of existence. Evidence of presence. Primordial seismographs. They reveal the imprint of life happening.
This is an opportunity to belong to yourself in a deeper way and to connect with the beauty and truth of who you are.
