Blue is a Poem is an ongoing series of cyanotypes about intimacy, memory, and the invisible architecture of human connection.

Each work begins with a garment worn closest to the body. A bra, a slip, a dress. Objects that quietly witnessed the ordinary rituals of intimacy. These fabrics become emotional documents, carrying traces of place, time, desire, heartbreak, tenderness, and transformation.

The series began in Paris in 2016.

It started with Rachid. A rented apartment. Figs on the table. A language barrier that never prevented connection. An artwork above the bed exploring the many meanings of the word blue. It was also the beginning of letting go of a previous life in Los Angeles. That first cyanotype became less about a garment than about preserving the atmosphere of a moment that could never be repeated.

Each piece is titled with a person's name, a place, the garment, and the year of the memory, locating the work somewhere between autobiography and universal experience.

Cyanotype itself feels inseparable from the subject matter. Made through the meeting of light, chemistry, time, and object, the process depends on multiple elements coming together to create an image. Relationships feel much the same. Neither person creates the connection alone; together they create something entirely new.

Every cyanotype is assembled from dozens of 4 × 4-inch sheets of Sunprint paper, forming a visible grid. The grid becomes a quiet metaphor for the countless experiences, histories, decisions, and moments that shape two people, and the relationship that emerges between them.

No connection is made from a single moment. Like the cyanotypes themselves, it is built piece by piece.
